15 AUG 2012
FROM: Commanding Officer, Kings Bay Division
TO: Prospective Sea or League Cadet
SUBJ: ENROLLMENT IN THE US NAVAL SEA/LEAGUE CADET PROGRAM
  1. Kings Bay Sea Cadets meet one weekend a month at TRIDENT Training Facility aboard NSB Kings Bay, GA. Please see the event calendar on our website at www.kingsbayseacadets.org for details. New cadets must bring a parent or guardian with a completed Medical History form and a completed Application. These may be signed upon your arrival, using a unit officer as the witness. You may "try-out" for ONE drill before joining, however, we MUST have these two completed forms to attend. If a new cadet is taking any prescriptions medicine, a parent MUST contact the Commanding Officer at 912 281-8900, prior to arrival.
  2. We run, do pushups, sit-ups, stretching, etc., at every drill.
  3. Most of your weekend will be spent with other cadets your age learning how to march and salute, studying, hands-on training and team sports.
  4. You will need money ($25.00) for meals. This pays for all meals and morning snack. Please have exact amount in cash as change is not available.
  5. Wear jeans and a plain white T-shirt with athletic shoes and bring the following:
  • Change of clothes for physical training (no open-toed shoes)
  • Some form of ID, preferable with a picture (military, school, drivers license)
  • Shower gear (shower shoes, towel, washcloth, and toiletries).
  • Sleeping bag.
  • Males MUST have a military style haircut and shave (no moustache or long sideburns). Females must put hair up above the collar with fasteners that match hair color. No earrings or other body piercings except for one small silver ball stud in each earlobe for females. No nail polish.
  1. The costs of the program is $100 per year plus a $50.00 refundable uniform deposit. Meal costs are the cadet's responsibility, which is what the $25 drill cost covers.

  2. Please call 912-281-8900 with any questions. I look forward to meeting you.
Respectfully,

Barbara Johns
LTJG, USNSCC

INITIAL SIGN-UP 2012 - 2013

New cadets who wish to sign-up after the AUG Drill will be handled individually based on schedules. We accept New cadets year round and you can sign up at any drill. New cadets should wear a plain white T-shirt and jeans (bring shorts for trying on uniforms over your clothes). Bring completed application package, enrollment fees, and $25.00 for the weekend drill.

Enrollment Requirements . . .

A medical examination similar to a high school sports physical is required for all cadet applicants to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) or Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC). No one will be denied admission to the NSCC/NLCC due to a medical disability. Where a medical condition precludes full, unlimited participation, a Request for Accommodation (NSCADM 015) may be presented by the parent or guardian for review so the cadet may participate in NSCC activities to the maximum extent possible.

Adult applicants must be in good health commensurate with their age group and be free from any ailment or condition that would prevent them from satisfactorily performing their primary duty of supervising youth. NOTE: Adults not physically qualified to perform all duties may still participate with a waiver from NHQ considering the parameters of their expected contribution to the NSCC program.
